Duisenberg school of finance stands for top education and research in finance. Located in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, our faculty and students are drawn from around the globe to contribute to the school’s existing international profile. ‘Finance and Sustainability’ is a key focus area at Duisenberg school of finance and our aim is to significantly expand the scope of our research and education in this area.

 

Programme Director Finance & Sustainability (0.8 - 1 fte)

 

We are currently seeking a Programme Director with proven global expert insight to navigate the challenges and opportunities related to finance and sustainability. The Programme Director will join the Duisenberg school of finance in Amsterdam, and will have the support not only of an internationally active research base and teaching culture, but also direct access to the knowledge and expertise of the financial sector.

 

Responsibilities

The Programme Director Finance & Sustainability will be responsible for managing various activities which Duisenberg school of finance will perform as part of its partnership with the Holland Climate Centre, founded by the Holland Financial Centre. Accordingly, the Programme Director will:

 

·         Initiate innovative research projects in the field of Finance & Sustainability;

·         Publish cutting-edge research on Finance & Sustainability in leading journals;

·         Design student curricula in the field of Finance & Sustainability; and

·         Design executive education programmes in the field of Finance & Sustainability.

 

The Programme Director will have the opportunity to work closely with Professor Noreena Hertz, who holds the Duisenberg Chair of Globalisation, Sustainability and Finance. In the spirit of the Duisenberg school of finance, the Programme Director will also actively seek to involve leading academics from other institutions that are active in the field of Finance & Sustainability, as well as industry professionals and governmental and non-governmental institutions with relevant roles or expertise in the field.

 

Skills and Experience

We are seeking a candidate with an established international presence and strong academic reputation at the intersection of energy and finance, who has the enthusiasm and operational skills to guide the development of the Finance and Sustainability Programme. We would particularly welcome a candidate with specialised knowledge of sustainable financing, carbon trading, and/or investment in clean technology. The ideal candidate would have previous experience as an Associate/Assistant Professor, although other candidates with relevant knowledge and experience are also encouraged to apply.

 

Appointment

The appointment will initially be for a period of three years. Depending on the future development of the Programme on Finance & Sustainability, the appointment may be extended beyond this period.

 

The salary will match the candidate’s responsibilities and will be in the range of € 5000-7000 gross per month, depending on expertise and previous experience. Other employment conditions will be favourable.

 

Procedure for Appointment

The appointment will be made by the Appointments Board of Duisenberg school of finance, chaired by Professor Dirk Schoenmaker who is the Dean, accompanied by Professor Enrico Perotti who is the Research Director, Professor Noreena Hertz, and a representative of the Holland Climate Center. All applications will be acknowledged. The Board will decide how it wishes to proceed towards making a selection, and may invite candidates for interviews and/or presentations. The Appointments Board will consult the Academic Council of Duisenberg school of finance. Candidates will be informed of the progress of their applications as agreed by the Board.
Anticipated starting date: 1 April 2010.
